This has been the question from a lot of our current clients that we pass onto our Green Deal advisers. So we thought it best to quickly explain what the Green Deal is and what it means to you. We have also highlighted what the Green Deal UK requires for you to be eligible to get all your replacements FREE of charge.

WHAT IS THE GREEN DEAL?

The Green Deal Incentive is a financing scheme designed by the government to make UK household home owners properties more Energy Efficient. This means that your CO2 output into the atmosphere is reduced and therefore your home becomes more energy efficient in the process. The finance is offset against the savings you make from having an energy efficient home, with your Free Boiler Replacement, Loft Insulation, Cavity Insulation, your monthly and yearly energy bills will be reduced drastically through the Green Deal UK Incentive.

The Green Deal was launched in January 2013 and applies to Domestic and Non-Domestic households and replaces the current policies such as:

- Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT)

- Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP)

The Green Deal incentive is split into Four Stages and are shown below:

1. THE ASSESSMENT:

The initial assessment is taken out at your house of residence both Domestic and Non-Domestic households are included in this initial phase and will be undertaken by a qualified Green Deal Assessor or adviser who will make an initial assessment of the property to see what improvements can be made under the Green Deal incentive and what the financial savings would be if those changes were to be taken into effect.

The adviser will then outline how the payments would work in regards to them being offset against your monthly energy bills.

The adviser will then go on to explain what improvements would save you the most money and be most cost effective under the green incentive.

An Advice report will then be produced which will outline all your current options under the government incentive and which they feel would be most suitable for your household.

2. FINANCE:

Your adviser that we choose for you from our reputable firm of Green Deal Advisers and assessors that go through extensive searches on their quality of work and professionalism before we recommend to any of our customers, will then go through all your Finance and you can either sign up with the adviser that we send out to your home, or you can choose from a list that we have within our company. The Eco Deal will be the biggest home energy improving incentive offered by the government in the history of energy incentives. We have already seen a huge influx of customers who ask us about the Eco Deal.

Eco deal is overtaking the previous CERT and CESP incentives from the government which ended in 2012 just as the Eco Deal and the new Green Deal have come into play for UK residents.

ECO means that energy suppliers have a legal obligation to improve the energy efficiency of each household, through three key areas:

1. The Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation: £4.2 Billion of lifetime cost savings, Energy suppliers have to legally reduce the cost of low income housing households energy bills. This allows low income families to affordably heat their homes in the UK. This can include the replacement of an old boiler that is not working efficiently to reduce any wasted energy, resulting in higher energy bills.

2. Carbon Emissions Reduction Obligation: This will focus on hard to treat homes and those measures that cannot and do not fall under the umbrella of the Green Deal Incentive. Hard to treat cavity wall insulation and solid wall insulation are their primary targets under this initiative.

3. Carbon Saving Community Obligation: 15% of this initiative layed out in the governments proposal will fall to those low income households, to reduce the level of lost energy through poor performing systems such as wall cavity, loft insulation and boilers. This allows for low income families to actively afford cheaper cleaner energy within their household.

HOW CAN THE ECO DEAL HELP ME?

At Green Deal Finders, we constantly work with out customers past and present to improve our service, listening closely to our clients allows us to better the service providers they receive and also the level of information that they too receive.

The Eco Deal can help households both domestic and Non-Domestic with loft insulation, double glazing, boiler replacement and cavity wall insulation. This means that you will receive all these measures free of charge and the cost is just offset against your energy bills.

HOW LONG WILL MY ECO DEAL ASSESSMENT TAKE?

Each Eco Deal Assessment is different, as our Approved installers and assessors need full access to your loft and cavity so therefore depending on the setup of your house, the assessment can take between 10-30 minutes and within this time your assessor will determine which part of the government Eco Deal you will qualify for free upgrades, to make sure that your home is lowering it’s carbon emission output and also lowering your monthly energy bills drastically.

WHY ARE THE GOVERNMENT DOING THIS?

It is simple, the government is part of the EU and a measure of improving the Europeans output of carbon emissions the UK government have allocated Billions of pounds to give away in free energy saving and improving measures, so that both low income and general households can lower their energy bills and also lower their carbon output.

The Energy efficiency of each household will not only see an improved carbon reduction rate but will also see that the individual is securing lower energy bills for years to come.

IS THERE A TIME CAP ON THE ECO DEAL?

No there is not a time cap on the Eco Deal funding, however there is a limited pot of money that the government has allocated to fund the home energy improvements that each individual household both domestic and non-domestic can be allowed.
